THE SANDMAN and Neil Gaiman

FIRST, I AM SELLING MY COMICS and ahead of the line are those by Neil Gaiman.

The banner above depicts Morpheus, or Dream of the Endless, in various volumes of the comic The Sandman, where Dream is the protagonist.

The story is hilarious, sad, morbid, cerebral, mythical, and vast. About seven characters, siblings, who make up The Endless: Destiny, Death, Dream, Destruction, Desire, Despair, and Delirum--the immortal embodiments of what they represent. Mainly about Dream, or Morpheus or The Sandman, a melancholic idealist who fulfills his duty and whose destiny, borne of his dreams, desires, despair, and delirium, ultimately brings him to destruction and death.

What I am selling is composed of ten volumes, where the orignal issues of The Sandman have been bound. The story has survived more than a decade since its first issue, so persistent in the psyche of readers that many editions have already been released. My collection has both second and third edition covers (if not third and fourth, I am not certain).

THE VOLUMES:
Volume I: Preludes and Nocturnes
Volume II: Doll's House
Volume III: Dream Country
Volume IV: Season of Mists
Volume V: A Game of You
Volume VI: Fables & Reflections
Volume VII: Brief Lives
Volume VIII: Worlds' End
Volume IX: The Kindly Ones
Volume X: The Wake

THE COVERS:

There was a time when this story was quite dear to me.
I guess it still is, except that people grow up and heroes die.

Together with The Sandman series I am also selling other graphic novels by Neil Gaiman. Death (Dream's sister): The Time of Your Life, Death: The High Cost of Living, Black Orchid, The Books of Magic, Neil Gaiman's Midnight Days, and The Comical Tragedy or Tragical Comedy of Mr. Punch. The two books of Death are related to the ten volumes of The Sandman. The Books of Magic story was continued in two or three more books, but not by Gaiman. By the title itself, Mr. Punch is the most serious book in this set.

OTHER GRAPHIC NOVELS BY NEIL GAIMAN:

ADAM WARLOCK and his Trail of Power

SECOND COMIC SET for sale are titles related to the golden boy of cosmic-powered Marvel superheroes: Adam Warlock.

Alright, so he is a far cry from the brooding Morpheus of The Sandman, but I think what got me hooked to this character was the idea of so much power and control, on the same immortal, omnipotent level as that of the Endless. Of course, on a less intellectual plane. I read him in high school.

There was an old set on Adam Warlock I think back in the eighties or the early nineties featuring his dark half (in his short-lived stint as wielder of the Infinity Gems and basically as GOD OF ALL THINGS, he divested both his good and evil side), the Magus. A second volume version of this was also released in the nineties, explaining the original storyline. This I have already sold.

Adam Warlock entered into prominence in the comic series The Infinity Gauntlet, where he usurped Thanos the Titan (another cosmic power-packed character) as the new wielder of the infinity gauntlet. Sadly, I have already lost my copies of this magnificent storyline, which spans the entire Marvel Universe, with Thanos consorting with Death (a more morbid version of Dream's sister), stealing the gems separately from other cosmic beings to complete the gauntlet, and basically fulfilling his megalomaniac cravings, etc. etc.

Sure, I also liked Thanos, but he was a villain and Warlock was a hero. Thanos was more intelligent, cunning, and scheming, but since he was a villain, he couldn't sustain a comic title for monthly issues.

So my Warlock set begins with ADAM WARLOCK AND THE INFINITY WATCH, a storyline begun when Warlock was forced to divest his power and distribute each of the gems (Time, Soul, Space, and Reality Gems) to other characters, with him retaining his original Soul Gem. Hence the "Infinity Watch": a band of less-eligible, less cosmic but otherwise worthy wielders of power.

TITLES: Adam Warlock and the Infinity Watch #1-20, (missed one) #22-25, and #28 (this is where I lost interest).

Of course, Thanos was not the last threat to the Marvel Universe on a cosmic, omni-whatever scale. It is forced to deal with Magus, Adam's evil side, in the storyline "The Infinity War" and subsequently with Adam's good side in "The Infinity Crusade" (with crossover storylines, such as those in "The Warlock Chronicles" in between).

TITLES: Infinity War#1-6 (with fold out covers); Infinity Crusade#1-6; Warlock Chronicles#2 and 4 (sorry, I already sold #1, 3, 5-6); and Silver Surfer#85 (an Infinity Crusade crossover)

After these is "Blood and Thunder", where Warlock and his gang tackles a Norse thunder god, Thor, gone insane. This story also crosses comic titles.

TITLES:
BLOOD AND THUNDER#1: The Mighty Thor#468
BLOOD AND THUNDER#2: (Not Available) The Silver Surfer#86
BLOOD AND THUNDER#3: (Not Available) The Warlock Chronicles #6
BLOOD AND THUNDER#4: Warlock and the Infinity Watch#23
BLOOD AND THUNDER#5: The Mighty Thor#469
BLOOD AND THUNDER#6: The Silver Surfer#87
BLOOD AND THUNDER#7: The Warlock Chronicles#7
BLOOD AND THUNDER#8: Warlock and the Infinity Watch#24
BLOOD AND THUNDER#9: The Mighty Thor#470
BLOOD AND THUNDER#10: The Silver Surfer#88
BLOOD AND THUNDER#11: The Warlock Chronicles#8
BLOOD AND THUNDER#12: The Mighty Thor#471

Extras: The Mighty Thor#472 and The Silver Surfer#89-90

More info on Warlock on: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam_Warlock. Come to think of it, most of the storylines I followed involved the crossing of titles and worlds. Coming up: titles from Image Comics and a stroyline crossover between the Image and Valiant universes. For interested buyers, contact me at burger.conrad@gmail.com. Ciao.
